What is the next step if my Foresight® Carrier Screen results are positive?
The Myriad Foresight® Carrier Screen is intended to detect healthy carriers of rare inherited diseases. A positive finding means that you are a carrier, and the next step is to have your significant other undergo the same panel of screens. If you both screen positive for the same disease gene, your baby has a one in four, or 25 percent, chance of inheriting that condition. If you are a carrier, your siblings have a higher chance of being carriers of the same disease as well, so it is a good idea to let them know.
Our genetic counselors are available to discuss your results and clarify your choices. Please sign in to your account to book a phone consultation at no additional cost.
